Just checkin to see if anyone has any information on the Red Paul Frank Barbie doll. I heard that it was previously unreleased. They made 200 a couple of years back and will be releasing them in November. Please post if you have any information.

hi alana85...
a few years back paul frank produced about 12,000 of the blue barbies and only 500 of the red barbies. making the red one obviously the limited edition collectors one. they did release the blue ones back then and are still available to buy. HOWEVER the red ones were never released... until recently. and theyre probably all gone by now. i was able to purchase a few, and will let them go to anyone that can appreciate barbie and ofcourse PAUL FRANK =)
how much would you let them go for? i'm just itching to purchase a doll noone has. it would be much better than having to purchase from ebay as that can get a bit pricey. trust me i know. i started collecting about 4 years ago and boy do i get a ration of crap from everyone on how its such a dumb thing to spend money on. i say "what do they know?"

They obviously have never seen the prices that collectible Barbies can fetch on the secondary and auction markets for quality pieces. Years from now saavy collectors (or their heirs) will likely be able to reap substantial dividends upon sales of their collections.
I have a book by Michael J. Augustyniak that lists ALL the collectable barbies. Acording to this book the Red Edition of the 2004 Paul Frank Barbie is an extremly limited production run of 500 Paul Frank Barbie dolls wearing red pajamas. According to the Barbie Collector website, Paul Frank put the entire production of these variant dolls wearing red pajamas in his vault along with other valuable collectables giving no date or occasion as to when they would be released. The red versions of the doll were finally released in spring 2007.
